About Matter

In the bustling town of Brighton, young Alcott is on the brink of a seemingly ordinary life as a Hewer. Miles away in the fertile lands of Bellgrove, Olyph, a farmer with a miraculous touch, harbors an incredible secret. Unbeknownst to Alcott, he and Olyph are part of an extraordinary trinity of Ventors, each possessing the unique ability to control Matter – the substance of all creation.

Matter, the gripping first installment of the “Matter” trilogy, unfolds as a tale of self-discovery and unintended consequences. While Alcott grapples with his newfound identity as a Ventor, Olyph embarks on a radical path, driven by a revolutionary ideal.

In this captivating young adult fantasy, readers will traverse a world teetering on the brink of an incredible transformation, where power can either forge or fracture the destiny of its bearers. As Alcott wrestles with the responsibility of his newfound powers, he is drawn into a maelstrom of ambition and conflict that will challenge everything he knows.

Matter is more than an adventure. It's a testament to the delicate balance between power and responsibility, and the unpredictable ripples one choice can create. Embark on a journey with Alcott and Olyph, where the line between hero and villain blurs, and destinies are forever changed. Join them in a world where nothing is as it seems, and a call to power can echo in the most unlikely hearts.

Where I’m at in the process.

Now: Beta Readers’ Review

I have distributed the first draft of Matter to 5 paid beta readers, as well as 10 family and friends. The beta review period will end the week of March 11th, at which time I will work those edits into my second draft.

Up Next: Developmental and Copy Editing

Once I’ve completed Draft Two, I will engage an editor for developmental and copy edits. Those edits will be incorporated into my Final Draft.

Then: Querying Time!

With my Final Draft, I will begin querying for author representation, with the hopes of eventually, together landing a book deal.
